Paul Jacobson                           paul.jacobson@mrgroup.biz
PJacobson leads the Business Planning practice within the Mission Resources Group. He provides business advisory services that assist clients to assess their current condition and plan for growth and change. Paul is known for his ability to think “out of the box” to craft creative and successful business solutions and strategies. He has served both commercial companies and non-profit organizations as the owner of the Franklin Management Services Group since 1989. His strengths include designing and guiding planning processes, facilitating focus group and planning sessions, performing research and feasibility studies and conducting “reality checks”.

Paul also conducts an innovative practice that helps clients apply emerging information systems technologies and methodologies by integrating consulting, education, training and mentoring. Paul’s previous experience includes IS management and Long-Range Planning at three mid-western hospitals, management consulting with a Big 8 public accounting firm, customer support for a major software and services vendor and seven years service in the U.S. Air Force.

Paul earned a BA in Administrative Management from Texas Lutheran College and an Executive MBA from Ohio University. He has developed and taught information systems, business and management classes as an adjunct faculty member at several colleges, most recently for the Ohio Dominican University MBA program.

After 9 snow-bird winters, Paul became a Hilton Head Island resident in 2006. He graduated from Leadership Hilton Head Island/Bluffton Class in 2009. Paul sings with and serves on the Boards of the Hilton Head Choral Society (Grants Chairperson) and the Hilton Head Lighthouse Barbershop Chorus. He produced and directed the October 2008 “Harmony for Habitat” benefit concert and February 2009 "Habitat Hop" which between them raised over $10,000 for Habitat for Humanity. Paul also serves on the Long-Range Planning Committee at Dolphin Head Golf Club.

successfully completed a wide range of management and staff assignments during his 30 + year career at IBM. His diverse abilities and experience include financial, project and process management as well as merger and acquisition responsibilities. His background includes both domestic and International environments.

Paul has managed organizations from over 200 people to small specialized departments. His strengths include innovation, creativity and the ability to execute in a results oriented organization. Paul has consulted with several local firms in the areas of Finance, Marketing, Personnel, Operations and Management. In addition he independently ran a small company for 18 months until it was sold in 2008.

Paul earned his BBA at the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Lehigh University.

Paul has actively served in community organizations for over 40 years in the following capacities: Vice-President of Community Vision of Hilton Head, Vice President and Finance Chair of the Hilton Head Choral Society, Treasurer and Development Director–Seahawk Theatre Guild, Hilton Head Chamber Bravo Committee, Graduate of Leadership Hilton Head-2004, Member of the Alumni Board, Accounting Advisory Board, Virginia Tech Elected to the Board of Trustees –Arts Center of Coastal Carolina-2004, Soloist and Church Choir President, Founding member of the Charles Ives Center for the Arts (CT), Treasurer for 13 years/ Board member 21 years and various church leadership positions.

Deborah Edmondson              deborah.edmondson@mrgroup.biz
DEdmondson has 30 + years of marketing experience in the public and private sectors. Her career includes marketing, brand management and merchandising positions with major corporations such as the JC Penney Company, Johnson Publishing Company and Essence Communications. She has also served as a consultant to various corporations in Asia and Africa developing the American market as part of their customer base. In 1995, Deborah established Gazelle Communication Group, a multi-service marketing firm, focusing on creating integrated marketing concepts for new and small businesses.

Throughout her corporate career Deborah was rewarded for her achievements. The Black Retail Action Group recognized her as a Corporate Achiever; she is in the Women’s Corporate Hall of Fame for the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women and was also recognized by the EDGES Group, Inc. as a New Generation Leader. As an entrepreneur Deborah successfully completed Leadership Hilton Head Island-Bluffton and serves the community through several board appointments including, Leadership Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Board of Regents, The Penn Center, Communities in Schools, Programs For Exceptional People and United Way.

Deborah earned a B.S. in Marketing from Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia. She has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean.

Daniel Shapiro             daniel.shapiro@mrgroup.biz
Dan is the founder of DJS Enterprises, LLC.  He has over 30 years of experience in the scrap metal industry as well as new steel fabrication, business brokerage and business development.

As a partner in a family owned scrap processing facility in St. Louis, Missouri, McKinley Iron, Inc., Dan was directly involved in all management aspects of the business while fulfilling the positions of Chief Operations Officer and Secretary/Treasurer.

His varied skills were utilized in negotiating collective bargaining agreements, developing continuous improvement processes, finance, human resources, purchasing of raw materials, and marketing in addition to oversight of day to day operations of a fully integrated scrap processing facility.  Part of his experience has been with two large national scrap processing companies, Azcon Corporation, and, most recently, Prolerized New England Co., a public and private company joint ventures where he held responsibilities for multiple facilities from Boston, Massachusetts to Portland, Maine.

Dan is a Founding Partner of Ward Joseph Consulting, LLC which served as a general business consulting firm based on Hilton Head Island.

Dan received an AB in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.  He has served on several boards including ISRI, the scrap national trade association where he was a committee chair, a privately held corporation, an alumni association, and served as a Regent for Hilton Head Island/Bluffton Leadership after graduating the program in 2006.

Dan relocated to Hilton Head Island with his wife, Joy, in 2004 after visiting the area for over 25 years.  They both enjoy golf and are dedicated to becoming involved in the community.

Mr. Buckingham’s 40+ years experience includes line management and spans a wide range of specialties, incorporating assignments in:

His breadth of capability and experience provides Joe with a broad and comprehensive perspective of organizational, management and control processes and with the ability to craft creative, effective solutions.

Both personally and professionally, Joe focuses on community activism and empowerment; and personal and professional development. He has taught college courses on MIS, statistics, personal and professional development and has also taught various technologies as a corporate trainer. An accomplished speaker and lecturer, Joe has spoken on security and management control at professional chapter  meetings, regional, national, and international conferences sponsored by the Institute Of Internal  Auditors (IIA), Information Systems Audit And Control Association (ISACA), the Computer Security Institute (CSI), the Bank Administration Institute (BAI), MIS Training Institute, and IIA - United Kingdom.

A resident of Hilton Head Island since 2005, Joe serves on the Indigo Run Community Owners Association Board of Directors. He is Vice President of the Board of Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head and a Board member of the Boys and Girls Club of the Low Country. He was formerly a member of New York City Community Planning Board 12, the Urban League, the NAACP, and co-founded a 501(c)(3) firm that targeted technology literacy and entrepreneurship in the minority community of Queens County, New York.

Joe earned a BS in Mathematics with a minor in Economics from Manhattan College and an MBA in Finance with a minor in Accounting from Iona College. He is a retired Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He is a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
