The South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations (SCANPO) was formed in 1997 by a group of nonprofit leaders from across the state. It is the only statewide network that brings together charitable nonprofit organizations to strengthen the effectiveness of the state’s nonprofit sector.

The community foundation exists to enhance the quality of life for all citizens of the South Carolina Lowcountry, now and for generations to come, by building community endowments, addressing needs through grantmaking, and providing leadership on key community issues.

United Way of the Lowcountry focuses on addressing the underlying causes of community issues-why problems exist. United Way supports services and programs that are not just “stop gap” measures, but ultimately preventative ones that create real and lasting change by improving peoples’ lives.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization seeking to eliminate substandard housing and homelessness, and to break the cycle of poverty fostered by inadequate housing.
